Mumbai (INDIA), Mar 20 - Air India today launched a new booking solution to enable its domestic customers book and buy tickets through a mobile phone by using a one-time downloadable 'Ngpay' software.

ÒThe domestic passenger only has to send an SMS keying in 'Ngpay' to the shortcode 56767 and download the free Ngpay software from ngpay.com on his GPRS-enabled mobile phone. The software which will take up between 65 to 80 KB space, depending on the model of the instrument, can also be downloaded from leading app stores like Android marketplace, Blackberry App World and Ovi Store,Ó an Air India spokesperson said.

Ngpay is a service provider for booking Air India domestic seats through mobile technology. The payment can be done by using credit cards, debit cards or net-banking facility through the mobile phone itself.

The facility is expected to enable passengers from tier-2 and tier-3 cities where Internet facility may not be readily accessible as well as for high-flying executives who can make bookings on-the-go in between meetings, or the tech savvy generation.

The moment booking and payment transaction is complete, the customer is informed about the ticket by an SMS with details about the booked sector with flight number and reference, that is the PNR code and an itinerary ticket receipt through the e-mail.
